A woman at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute in Siberia reportedly died from pneumonia of unknown cause. While there are suggestions she may have contracted pneumonic plague, Russian authorities have not confirmed this diagnosis. The World Health Organisation assesses the risk of spreading beyond Russia as very low and is in contact with Russian officials. US President Donald Trump plans to discuss the case with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.
