Breast pumps are devices used to suction milk from the breasts of lactating mothers and store it in a container to provide a continuous supply of breast milk for feeding their infants as and when required. For instance, when the mothers are not able to feed directly or are away for work, the stored milk can be fed to the infant by the caretakers. Breast pumps assist in triggering the milk ejection response from lactating mothers by creating a seal around the nipple and applying and releasing pressure.
The growth of the market is attributed to the rapid increase in working women population, inadequate maternity leave period and the growing awareness about the benefits and importance of breastfeeding. Other factors such as favourable reimbursement scenario, increasing healthcare expenditure by the government and technological developments in electric breast pumps will also help in the growth of the market. On the other hand, barriers such as high risk of contamination mainly in open system breast pumps, high maintenance of electricity battery pumps and hospital grade pumps, high cost of breast pumps coupled with low awareness, especially in under-developed countries such as Nigeria, Afghanistan and Bhutan are likely to restrain the market growth.
The world breast pump market is segmented on the basis of technology, product type, application and geography. On the basis of technology, the market is segmented into manual breast pumps, battery powered breast pumps and electric breast pumps. By product type, the market is segmented into closed system breast pumps and open system breast pumps. Closed system breast pumps are both the highest revenue generating segment as well as the highest growing segment owing to higher benefits such as reduced risk of contamination and a preventive barrier between the pump and the milk collection kit. Based on application, the market is segmented into personal use pumps and healthcare/hospital grade pumps. In terms of geography, the market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Latin America, Middle East and Africa (LAMEA).
The North America breast pump market will be the leading revenue-generating region whereas Asia-Pacific will be the highest growing region, owing to growing demand for breast pumps. Asia-Pacific breast pump market is set to grow at a promising CAGR of approximately 10% from 2015 to 2022, due to factors such as rising disposable income and highly unmet medical needs.

Amid furor, Trump pushes pause on deciding Rosenstein's fate

Sep 23, 2018

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — As Air Force One streaked across the desert sky and Las Vegas faded in the distance, President Donald Trump began seeking opinions. The TVs on the plane, tuned as always to Fox News, carried headlines about an explosive new story: Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had suggested wearing a wire to secretly record Trump, and raised the idea of using the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office. On the flights both to and from a Missouri rally, Trump polled staff on the plane, called his outside network of advisers and kept a careful eye on...

Iran's president blames US after attack on military parade

Sep 23, 2018

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's president on Sunday accused an unnamed U.S.-allied country in the Persian Gulf of being behind a terror attack on a military parade that killed 25 people and wounded 60, further raising regional tensions. Hassan Rouhani's comments came as Iran's Foreign Ministry also summoned Western diplomats over them allegedly providing havens for the Arab separatists who claimed Saturday's attacks in the southwestern city of Ahvaz. The Iranian moves, as well as promises of revenge by Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard, come as the country already faces turmoil in the wake of the American withdraw from Tehran's nuclear deal...

Kavanaugh accuser commits to hearing

Sep 23, 2018

WASHINGTON — Attorneys for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, and the Senate Judiciary Committee have reached agreement for a public hearing Thursday, as talks continued Sunday to resolve potentially make-or-break details. Ford committed to an "open" hearing after negotiators convened a call on Sunday, her attorneys said in a statement. A spokesman for the committee's chairman, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, confirmed the hearing would take place at 10 a.m. Thursday. "We've made important progress," said Ford's attorneys Debra S. Katz, Lisa J. Banks, and Michael R. Bromwich. "Dr. Ford believes it is important for senators to...

German government reaches deal to solve spy chief dispute

Sep 23, 2018

BERLIN — Leaders of German Chancellor Angela Merkel's governing coalition reached a deal Sunday to resolve a standoff over the future of the country's intelligence chief, a dispute that has further dented the image of their fractious six-month-old alliance. The center-left Social Democrats have insisted that Hans-Georg Maassen be removed as head of the BfV spy agency for appearing to downplay recent violence against migrants, but conservative Interior Minister Horst Seehofer has stood by him. Last week, coalition leaders agreed to replace Maassen as head of the BfV but give him a new job as a deputy interior minister, a...

Pompeo: No end to NKorea sanctions until 'denuclearization'

Sep 23, 2018

NEW YORK — Top U.S. diplomat Mike Pompeo said Sunday that economic sanctions on North Korea won't be reduced until it completes "denuclearization" after leader Kim Jong Un offered to close the North's main nuclear site in exchange for U.S. concessions. Kim said last week at a summit with South Korea's president that he was willing to dismantle the Nyongbyon nuclear complex in the presence of outside inspectors if the U.S. takes unspecified "corresponding measures." He also promised to dismantle the North's main rocket launch site. That has helped revive U.S.-North Korea diplomacy that had failed to make headway since...
